I’ve had people bring furniture back to us after a year in someone else’s non-AC storage looking nothing like it did when it went in. Leather sofas that had cracked, wooden furniture with the joints starting to warp, one memorable case of a mattress that had actually grown mold along one edge. None of that’s dramatic or unusual for Dubai, it’s just what happens when things sit in a hot warehouse for months without any climate control. That’s really the whole reason storage here needs to be talked about differently than storage anywhere else.
Why Storage in Dubai Isn’t as Simple as “Just a Warehouse”
Our summer weather is really tough and a warehouse without air conditioning can get over 50 degrees inside for many weeks in a row. Wood becomes dry. Starts to crack. Leather becomes stiff. Begins to split. Electronics, those with a battery don’t like that kind of heat very much either.. When the humidity from winter comes in that same warehouse can hold onto the moisture, which is when you start to see mold, on fabric or a musty smell that never really disappears.
None of this means non-AC storage is bad, it’s genuinely fine for things that don’t care about temperature, tools, hardware, sturdy plastic furniture, documents in sealed boxes. The mistake is putting the wrong things in the wrong type of storage.
AC Storage Versus Non-AC, and How to Actually Decide
This is the question I get asked most, and my honest answer is it depends entirely on what’s going in there. If it’s wood furniture, leather, mattresses, electronics, artwork, musical instruments, anything with fabric upholstery, I’d tell you to spend the extra on AC storage every time. It’s not a huge jump in price and it’s genuinely the difference between getting your things back in the same condition versus needing repair or replacement.
For tools, metal shelving, camping gear, sturdy plastic bins, documents in sealed containers, non-AC storage is perfectly fine and saves you money without any real risk. I’d rather be straight with a client about this than upsell everyone into AC storage they don’t actually need.

Short-Term Storage Versus Long-Term Storage
Short-term storage is an idea if you are moving from one home to another waiting for your new villa to be ready fixing up your old home or waiting for a shipment to arrive. You can store your things for a few weeks. A few months. You do not have to make a long commitment, with short-term storage.
Long-term is better for things you’re not ready to part with but don’t need day to day, seasonal furniture, extra household items after downsizing, business inventory. Longer terms usually work out cheaper per month than paying short-term rates over and over, so if you already know you’ll need storage for six months or more, it’s worth saying so upfront.
Storing Household Goods
This is the most common reason people call us, moving homes, renovating, or just needing somewhere for furniture that doesn’t fit the new place yet. We collect your items, transport them to the facility, and store them properly, wrapping and labeling everything going in so when you want something back, we can actually find it quickly rather than digging through an unlabeled unit.
Furniture Storage, Specifically
Furniture is usually the bulkiest and most awkward part of any storage need, and also what gets damaged most easily if it’s not handled properly going in. We individually wrap and pad large pieces before loading, not just tossed into a corner of the warehouse, and everything’s positioned so nothing’s crushed under something heavier during the storage period.
If you’ve got wooden furniture specifically, this is one of the clearest cases for AC storage. Wood expands and contracts with heat and humidity, and repeated cycles of that over months in a non-AC space is usually what causes joints to loosen or wood to crack.
Commercial and Business Storage
Businesses need this for different reasons, seasonal stock, documents, office equipment that isn’t needed day to day but can’t be thrown out either, inventory overflow. We handle both personal and business storage from the same secure warehouse, so whether it’s a few boxes of files or a full office’s worth of furniture between moves, it gets the same level of care.
What You Can and Can’t Actually Store
Standard storage facilities in Dubai, ours included, can’t take perishables, live plants, flammable materials, gas canisters, anything explosive, corrosive or toxic, or cash and valuables that really belong in a bank. It’s not us being difficult, it’s a genuine safety and insurance requirement that’s standard across every storage provider in the city. Everything else such, as furniture and boxes and appliances and documents and business stock is all allowed. If you are not sure if something is allowed then ask before you put it in a box.
Figuring Out How Much Space You Actually Need
People consistently overestimate this. A one-bedroom apartment’s worth of furniture and boxes usually fits into something modest, not the huge unit people assume they need. A full villa’s contents obviously needs a lot more, and for that we’d rather come take a look or get a detailed inventory than guess, because underestimating space means either paying for a second unit later or things not fitting properly in the first place.
How Pickup and Storage Actually Works
For most clients we handle the whole thing, come collect your items, transport them to the facility, and get them properly stored, rather than you having to rent a van and do it yourself. Security matters too, our facility runs on CCTV with controlled access, not just anyone wandering in and out. If your items include anything particularly valuable, worth mentioning that upfront so we handle it with the right level of care from day one.
When Storage Actually Makes Sense
Moving is the obvious one, especially if there’s a gap between leaving your old place and your new one being ready. Renovation is another, clearing a room out properly gets a much better result than working around furniture pushed into a corner. Downsizing, moving into a smaller place and not ready to sell or donate everything yet. And business storage, seasonal stock, documents, equipment that’s needed occasionally but not daily.
I’d say the one thing to avoid is treating storage as a permanent solution for things you’re never actually going to use again. If it’s been in storage two years and you can’t remember what’s in the boxes, it’s probably cheaper in the long run to sort through it once, rather than paying monthly indefinitely.
